The Amulet Tour Takes Over NEPA

Review & Photos by Kevin Miller

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Circa Survive fan so you may think this review is biased but again if you know me, you would know that is not the case. I can't begin to count how many times I have gone out of my way to make sure I catch this band when they come through to a drive-able distance. From my first Circa show at the legendary NJ festival, Bamboozle at the Meadowlands where I got to see Anthony Green perform the whole set in a dress, to later in life growing more and more attached to the songs this band has put out and traveling to see them rock Cleveland. I have been to many but this one was one for the books.

I was dying to get to this show with my camera in hand knowing how many photo opportunities I had to come in the first three songs of their set. Anthony Green, one of the best frontman in the scene, leaves it all on stage with every performance and he didn't hold anything back in Stroudsburg, PA. Pacing back and forth with high energy, encouraging the crowd to "come" they pulled you right in but that wasn't enough. Green hopped down off the stage and got face to face with the fans. Each pouring their hearts out as they sang back, The Difference Between..., then and there I knew this night was going to be special.

For the full duration of the set, Circa Survive  never missed a beat. Consistent with their stage energy, you could tell they were feeding off the what the crowd was giving back to them. As time passed the louder the buzz grew. With a perfect mixture of songs from their catalog each word echoed throughout the theater, old and new. Leaving all the troubles over their everyday life, everyone in that room came together to celebrate the music that they view as a safe haven.

This was my first time ever to the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA and I will definitely be back. The acoustics in the building added so much to the show along with the amazing stage they had to perform on. You felt like you were being fully surrounded by the noise. Like all the fans who were there, I will be back for the next run because Circa Survive always leaves you wanting more.
