Dan Amaro of In Winds is an emerging singersong writer based out of Columbus Ohio. Having just concluded his first tour with post-hardcore band “Fate’s Got A Driver”, featuring platinum artist Eddie Reyes formerly of Taking Back Sunday”. Amaro’s influences include Dallas Green's City and Colour, Yellowcard, and Reliant K. Amaro’s past projects include The Major Minor, having toured 40 dates between 2016-2017 under Imminence Records. In Addition, Amaro has co-wrote with notably musicians such as Daniel Garrow of Bragging Rights and has shared the stage with Shane Told of SilverStein, Real Friends, Citizen and more. It was when Amaro began co-writing with Garrow that he would develop as a singer songwriter.
In Wind’s first and only remaining released single “Blindsided” is out now. In it Amaro touches on important issues such as self realization and emotional stability. Stressing to the listener to “Save your mental strength on the things that matter most” and that “it is a choice to stay angry or let go”. Amaro carried these important messages over to his live performance very well when I was fortunate enough to be able to see him in Detroit towards the ending of his recent tour.
Amaro’s persona on stage was warm and welcoming. He smiled at his audience and thanked them for coming. One of my favorite moments during his set was when he called his stage manager to the stage and together they played Deathcab For Cutie’s “Follow You Into The Dark”. The entire crowd in the venue smiled together and sang the chorus out of tune, and off tempo, but none of that mattered. Everyone was just in the moment enjoying the music.
In Winds Next hometown show in Columbus Ohio will be on April 10th at Donates Basement with headlining bands Boys of Fall, Oh, Weatherly, and Never loved and With additional local support from You vs Yesterday and We Are The Movies. Amaro has not released any updates on when additional music is set to be released online, but I would say it's safe to assume In Winds is not going anywhere anytime soon. According to In Winds facebook page new music is “coming soon”, so stay tuned!
